No Accountability
There is no inherent accountability in a gym membership. The only accountability is the feeling we [place on ourselves once we sign the year contract. The only reason we may find scattered times to make it in is because we don’t want to waste our money.
Unless you’re a body builder, personal trainer or another kind of fitness expert, it’s more than likely you find it hard to make it into the gym on a consistent basis. [Personal trainers wear a number of hats, serving not only as a coach, but as an educator, confidant, role model, and a major source of motivation and encouragement]
Meat-Market Atmosphere/Culture
Besides being crowded and noisy typical workout facilities (gyms) are more about impressing everyone else than actually working out. Many people are so worried about their appearance and ability to exercise correctly that they don’t even want to workout at all, despite wanting to add a fitness routine to their regular schedules. A Sport England Study found that 75% of women put off working out due to the opinions of others.
[Personal trainers offer the security of personal instruction. Often times they schedule workouts in extremely exclusive environments with minimal distractions.]
Lack of Guidance/Workout Instruction
Unless you’ve had extensive fitness training, chances are you could learn a thing or two about training your body correctly. As we age our bodies need different training techniques and increasingly specific goals. People use professionals to take care of their most important assets: accountants to take care of finances; contractors to handle their houses and dentists to take care of their teeth. What personal trainers provide is professional instruction and development for your most valuable asset: your body (and mind).
[Personal trainers provide expert advice and specific individualized instruction unbeknownst to the everyday gym-goer]
Lacking Motivation?
In and of themselves, gyms don’t provide the motivation necessary to reach your fitness goals. When working out alone or even with friends (provided you find the time in your busy schedules) it’s hard to find that extra motivation to push through a workout, a set or rep without proper encouragement and positive reinforcement. [Personal trainers are not only certified experts in physical training, but are also phenomenal motivators/coaches who know exactly what you need and when you need it to power through any workout.
